History
A single 1823 bell by Thomas Mears became the tenor of a ring of eight when Mears & Stainbank added the front seven bells in 1887. This installation and the significant amount of tower sway combined to cause problems almost straight away. A peal was stopped in 1889 owing to the poor go of the seventh and tenor. The bells were rehung by Taylor's in 1933 and again in a new metal frame in 1972 by Whitechapel when the opportunity was taken to remove their canons, quarter-turn and retune them.
